Article Spinning Revisited

It’s been a while since I wrote about my pet peeve, well one of them anyway – article spinning. If you don’t know what article spinning is then let me explain. It’s a worthless SEO gimmick used by numpties who think they have discovered a way crack the Google code and cheat their way to the top. Like I said, numpties. (Incidentally, the previous sentence translates to “Love I spoke, eggs” in Spinish.)
Oh well I suppose the weak minded who flock to the latest get rich quick scheme need something to play with while they are waiting for the next unemployment check to arrive. I have been told repeatedly that Article spinning software in the hands of an expert can produce unique content. Ok, Expert and article spinning is probably an oxymoron so I had better stop there, I mean, how on earth will spammers manage to spin a document that uses wurdz they don’t understand.

That’s the big problem with article spinners, the originator of the article is probably a dam site smarter and had a better handle on the subject matter than the person attempting to spin 1000 unique versions from it. I make a dammed fine carrot and coriander soup but if I was to add enough water I could stretch it to 1000 servings. The original flavor would be lost but this is what happens to spun articles, they are thinned down into transport café soup!
That said, if quality is an alien word to you and if you believe there is a market for 1000 articles each slightly reworded, then go for it. Ah, I can see all those that are pro article spinning raise their fist to the screen and shout out, “that’s not why we do it you dumb dolt, we do it to get back links”. Well if you are one of those, not only are you a numpty you have just identified yourself as a spammer. Howdy spammer.
The text book definition of search engine spam is content that panders to search engine algorithms without consideration of the needs or wants of the reader. That sums up article spinners rather nicely i think. What you should be doing is writing naturally in your own voice, this way keywords and synonyms will take care of themselves without the need to torture and twist the English language to meet some mythical keyword density.
Anyway, I feel cleansed, it’s so good to have a little rant now and again and I am only targeting spammers anyway so who cares. But I have left the comments open if any pro article spinning persons would like to come along and spin a yarn or two.

Gally, I don't think anyone would want to spin my hubs. I think I actually world think it would be a compliment see someone to think my articles were good enough to copy.

Randy, an act of desperation is a good way of putting it, after all someone desperate for content without the ability to write their own stuff can always pilfer the hard work of others and run it through an article spinner. Yes indeed, an act of desperation by desperate people.

This guy is strange.. In some of his hubs he is promoting the various Article spinning softwares and here he is cursing it like anything.. Spinning is a great way to spread your own content on the internet so people can access it at various places but only if done properly either by hand or by software..
What guy are you talking about? I certainly have no articles that promote article spinning software and as my prowess in thought transference is limited I don’t have a clue who you are talking about.

He may mean that google adverts for spinning appear on hubs where you mention spinning.
If so, he does not realise that you have no control over the adverts that appear on your hubs.
People spin articles to use in backlinks.
And some build thousands of backlinks in efforts to increase the rankings of their often miserable sites.
Personally, I think that it won't be too long before backlinks will be about as effective as keyword stuffing in google's determination of ranking for web pages.

That might explain things.
I agree, there must be a better way to evaluate web pages, one that takes in quality as well as relevance could kill off the junk produced by article spinners.

My knowledge of SEO is limited, so my observations are only anecdotal, but I have noticed that Google has become a lot less cluttered with crap over the past year. For example, Ezine seems to be sinking down the rankings.
I currently spin articles by hand, but I make sure that every article is an informative, standalone article and go for quality over quantity. I am hoping that if Google makes a big jump towards using quality as its main criterion, I will have something usable to salvage.
I still manually backlink on bookmarking sites and the like, but I am trying to make sure that I have a Plan B. And Plan C :)
Surfdreamer, when the day comes that search engines take quality seriously, and I think it’s inevitable, those without a “Plan B” are going to find themselves hung out to dry.
These people using SEO spinning crap aren't so much "Desperate" as they are "Lazy", "greedy", "Unethical" and "Disgusting"; 'makes me wanna cash-out as a human being if they're really considered the same species as I am. Anyone who's making a single CENT doing s*** like they do is a complete waste of skin. Those kind of filthy, predatory scum-bags make me want to either commit seriously grizzly murder, or puke---'can't decide which.

Don't waste your puke on them, those 'predatory scum-bags' will only try to sell it off as carrot pizza.
Spinning is not worthless SEO gimmick if it is done correctly!
With a good spinner you get 75-80% unique and readable articles.
Personally, I prefer to write stuff that’s better than 75% readable!
What a great article on spinning. I know that spinning is one of the worst methods of writing articles. You explain it so well. I did not know you were the SEO expert. I wish you lived next door to me, as I struggle with SEO. I now see that you have written many SEO articles, and I will read them. Then maybe I can become a little more knowledgable. This article is very well organized and easy to understand.

I have found some of my articles spun on other sites and I fail to see how they are worth the time put into spinning them. Yes, I know there are programs just for this purpose but it seems an act of desperation on the part of the user. Anyway, I agree with your hub!
